*video* marbles, one alternative to wet floral foam

In a recent post I mentioned that I was going to stop using wet floral foam since it is not eco-friendly and it also contains toxic elements like formaldehyde.  Yikes.  You can read more about that post here.

It seems like I favor short containers for flowers so I thought that I would see how glass marbles would work in this particular arrangement.  You can find glass marbles or glass beads at the craft store.

The marbles worked nicely.  Here, I’ll prove it to you in this video:

Lucky me, I have a ton of these beauties blooming in my backyard . . .

These roses have a short stem, so they will be top-heavy in a low container …

What a quick and simple way to get flowers on the table…

Marbles aren’t ideal if you are making an arrangement to give as a gift .   Although they are affordable, you don’t want to go losing all your marbles.  The same goes for floral frogs and the other gadgets you can use to secure your flowers.  Well, except for floral tape (used in a grid pattern) … but I have a feeling I wouldn’t have the patience or time for that.  Maybe I’ll stick with the marbles for now.

Until next Monday!
