The weight is over. My before and after reveal (gulp)

I can’t believe I’m going to do this?

So here is a little teaser before you scroll to the before and after pics . . . this was me, at 142 pounds trying to run to my mark before the camera timer went off.  Guess I wasn’t fast enough.

Also, since I’ve gone without indulgent foods for 3 months and since my birthday was this weekend, I’m going to (or may have already) allow myself the following things at some point in the next couple of days.

  1. slice of pepperoni pizza.  Nothing fancy.  preferably the kind of big slice you can fold.
  2. huevos rancheros
  3. a warm apple crumble of some sort.  With vanilla ice cream on top.
  4. chips and queso. (Velveeta with Rotel tomatoes)
So here, my friends is me at 142 pounds really squeezing with all of my might into my favorite every day pair of around-the-house jeans.  Pardon the self-deprecating comments.
Here’s the front (gulp)

And the back (double gulp)

Here’s the side by side before and after from the front

And side by side before and after from the back.

So there you have it.  I’ll just imagine a few slow claps coming from a few kind people in the back of the room.

So I did actually lose 20 pounds in three months.  Project LTBW accomplished!  Phew!

I will say that my body definitely wears weight differently since having a baby.  I still have some work to do.  But I’m going to give myself a break for a few days.

So here are the keys to my weight loss.  (For even more details, click here)

  1. Portion control
  2. Calorie counting (I tried to stay at about 1200/day)
  3. No sweets
  4. Very little carbs
  5. Active  (mommy) lifestyle

Here is a note on #5.  I didn’t “hit the gym” or run miles or anything.  I basically went on walks as often as I could.  Maybe 3 times a week or so.  I wanted to get down to my target weight before I started really strengthening and toning with heavy cardio and weights.  (Which I guess I need to start doing soon)

Phew.  Glad that’s over with.  Okay, so I’m going to push that little button to the right that says “publish.”

. . . .

A very unassuming button. . . .

Here it goes . . .

See ya next week,

  1. WOW!! amazing. I’m starting my “diet” (read: change my physical life) today. What an inspiration you truly are. My inspiration is, I got to 48 Kg’s (i think 105 pounds) (please keep with me, we dont use the pound measurment in South Africa) after my divorce and I have slowly picked up all the weight again and am now a whopping 65kg (143 pounds?) Now I do not want to get back to that unhealthy weight but am aiming for 55kg (121 pounds). And reading you blog has really inspired me like nothing else I have ready.

    • i totally agree with you and i also think its really great and one of the most inspirational cases ever… Great post and great work. People can really fill their lives with even more hope now:P

  4. Great work Jennifer! I enjoyed reading about your journey. I must say that I am a fan of the approach to activity you took. Too many people go from zero to sixty while crash dieting only to burn out before making any real progress. Your slow and easy approach is very wise. I usually advise people taking your approach to be sure to get regular massages as you lose the lbs. The primary reason is that your lymphatic system is working shuttle out all the toxins that were locked away in your fat cells. Since there is no pump (such as the heart) in the lymphatic system, it’s a good idea to do some dry skin brushing, yoga, and or regular massage. I have yet to find a woman who objects to the recommendation. Keep up the great progress!

  5. Wow! You look stunning!!!! My baby is a year old already and I keep saying…I will loose these last 6 pounds….which I know is only 6, but they are a TOUGH 6!! You definetly inspired me! Bravo for your courage girl!!

  6. Jennifer, wow…congrats on your transformation. You look great!

I just tweeted your post to my followers on Twitter.

    Keep up the great work!

  7. Thank you for sharing. Yesterday, I found myself in tears when a girlfriend sent me a text and told me that I looked pretty the night before at a function we both attended. I was flattered that another women (who is beautiful and has a great figure) took the time to give me such a nice compliment, but I imagine that she the real reason she told me was because she could see on my face that I didn’t feel pretty and needed to hear it. Which is even more flattering. I am 40lbs overweight after the birth of my second son. Her comments yesterday and seeing your post today have inspired me to get busy losing the weight. Thanks again!

    • What a good friend to send you a nice note like that. And don’t doubt yourself so much… If she took the time to send u a note I’m sure she meant it. I’m posting tonight about some weight loss tips and tricks. Come back and visit!

  8. Oh wow! Congratulations on the incredible transformation! You looked absolutely beautiful before and after! And I have the utmost respect for you, your openness and encouragement!

  9. Awesome job! I found you via the UBP. I dropped 40lbs last year, but sadly gained back 15lbs since Oct. I’m now 33lbs from my goal and it’s awesome to see other’s progress! Now following you 🙂

  10. Found you though the UBP12 and just had to comment!! U look amazing and congrats for loosing the weight so quickly too! I had about 35 lbs to loose after having my little guy. Breastfeeding really helped get it off quickly, but now that we’ve stopped I really have to watch what I eat, exercise and maintain good portions. I hear ya about wearing the weight differently too, our bodies are really amazing things.

Great blog and I’m a follower now too!

    • Thank u so much! I think I used BF as an excuse to allow myself everything. Man, I was hungry all time! The timing of weaning and getting my body (somewhat) back worked out nicely. Thanks for checking my blog out… I’m off to see yours!

  11. you were adorable before and you are now 🙂 But the biggest difference i see is that you look healthier. Your skin is GLOWING!
I’m on the tail end of a journey to lose 100lbs (13lbs to go) and have been struggling. Your post has definitely added some fuel to my fire. Thanks for the inspiration!

    • Wow, my 20 pounds is nothing compared to 100! That is great you only have 13 more pounds to go! What an accomplishment! Oh, and don’t be fooled by that glow . . . I thought it would be nice to be not so bright white for my birthday so I got a spray tan. Oh boy . . . not sure if I’ll do that again. Such a bizarre experience walking into that booth. Much more involved than I realized. Totally reminded me of that Friends episode.

  12. thanks for showing your amazing transformation! you look so great! congratulations! and thanks for the inspiration!!

  13. wow congrats this makes me so happy to see as a post a mom trying to lose weight i want to go 4 walks too and cut sugar from my diet so bad how did u cut the sugar from ur diet?!

    • Oh my gosh it was brutal to cut the sweets! I literally had to get rid of sugar snacks from the kitchen. Raisins and almonds became my best friend. In moderation. I cheated every once in a while but that is a slippery slope for me. Good luck!

  14. Wow, you look great. I just came across your blog today, and this was the first story I read because I am on a similar journey (trying to lose that post baby, muffin top, back fat stuff). You have inspired me to keep going!!! I’m so happy that you shared your before and after photos. Thank you so much for being an inspiration to someone like me who was on the brink of giving up the fight, LOL!!!

  15. This is awesome!
My daughter just turned a year old… and i have not even started trying to lose the weight. Bits and pieces have come off on their own… but i need to get serious about it. I have 30 or so pounds i need to lose. You have been an awesome inspiration. Thank you for this post!

  16. I hopped over from Crystal’s Mommy Club post. You are so brave! I’m on a quest of my own to lose weight. Hope my success post will be as good as yours. 🙂 Thanks for sharing! I saw a couple of your tostada recipes and fell in love! I can’t wait to try them. Tostadas are one of my favorite foods! YUM!

  20. Congrats! You look amazing!! I have to say, I have a lot of weight to lose and I just haven’t been motivated to do it. I think after seeing what you did in only 3 months, maybe I can try. Thanks for inspiring me!!!

  21. Jen – that is so awesome. You look fabulous. It takes a lot to lose weight, but even more to be willing to post your work and effort of accomplishment. Keep up the hard work and don’t give up. Sometimes it’s slow, sometimes it’s fast, but it will happen.

    Congrats again

  22. You did it and girl, you look amazing!!!! Such an inspiration!!! What a great bday gift to yourself! Way to go. Love ya friend. Xo

  23. amazing! and the best part is that you did not spend money goint to gyms or buying special dieting products, So, all mommies out there, if Jen can do it YOU CAN DO IT!!!

  24. Wow, wow, wow! You look so fabulous and should be so proud of yourself! I will think of you tomorrow when I’m tempted by the Easter candy hanging around the house. And happy birthday!!

  25. I want to try this! I saw this on pinterest and LOVE it! I need to loose 15 pounds…I lack will power and an addiction to soda! Any suggestions?

    • The soda will get cha. Maybe practice cutting down and eventually switch to a flavored sparkling water? My willpower was starting this blog! Or maybe use a special event in the future to set as your goal date. A wedding, birthday, holiday etc. Thanks for reading and good luck!

So, what do ya think?
