What’s the 20 on my 20 – EOW #3 (splurging)

Boy, this week I was really walking that diet tight rope.  A tough week for me to shed some weight and keep exercising.  Let’s just say I’ll blame my struggle on a girlie sitch.  Ladies you know what I’m talking about.  I did okay during the week with watching my calorie intake, but didn’t do so great with exercising.  I think I only went for my walk 3 times. I usually try to do my walk every day.  Then come Friday I couldn’t really fight my craving any further for some deep-fried something.  The latest issue of Bon Appetit was probably to blame.  I normally don’t crave sushi unless it is deep-fried, but there is one place in particular in town that I  LOVE that I haven’t been to in a couple of years (since before I was pregnant with my daughter).  My husband and I didn’t get a chance to make it out there this weekend, so instead we ordered sushi in from another “OK” place.  Don’t you hate it when you have such a specific craving for something and it doesn’t live up to your expectations leaving you so disappointed?  Ugh.  I hate that.  So the deep-fried sushi wasn’t worth the splurge.

I did have one other splurge.  It was a special occasion splurge.  I had brunch with a good friend of mine whom I hadn’t seen in a great while.   We both kind of decided to splurge, why not?  She and I are both similar in how seriously we take our ordering.  We sit down and take care of food business first.  Closely examine the menu choices.  We study it carefully and exchange a few “Oh my gosh that sounds so good” comments.  Anyway, we both ordered the same thing and we were both completely satisfied.  I am proud that I stopped eating when I felt full and pushed my plate away with a good portion of the potato hash remaining.  But the portion I did eat really hit the spot.  Ahhhh.

Oh, what’s the 20 on my 20 after all of this?  I lost one pound in week three.  So I am off by half pound.  But at least the scale read one digit less that last week.  That satisfies me, for now.  I can’t fall behind schedule too much.  My April deadline will be here before I know it.  15 more pounds to go!
